Travelodge London Croydon Central Hotel

A couple of things could be better: check-in is firmly at 3pm unless you pay to arrive earlier, and I found two bed bugs, which needs attention. Otherwise, I had a great stay. The rooms were clean, spacious and warm, with good hot water; staff were helpful and friendly, and reception is open around the clock. Travelodge East Croydon is affordable and very convenient, close to the station with plenty of grocery shops nearby. A return trip into central London cost around £15 in total.

I found bedbugs in the first room they gave me, but staff apologized and moved me straight away to a clean room that worked out great. Check the mattress before settling in. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, though they did push a little for reviews. After 11 PM, entry is by keycard only, which is reassuring given that people on the street might harass you and the area isn't the best. For two weeks on a budget trip, I was very satisfied. The price and location near East Croydon station are hard to beat, with a Sainsburys across the street and lots of places to eat nearby. You get what you pay for, but the room was spacious and functional, the bed comfortable, and the upper-floor city view lovely. Noise was minimal with the windows closed. There’s a plug-in heater but no AC, which I didn't need in November. Outlets were scarce, though there was a USB C and regular outlet by the bed, plus more at the table. Furnishings and appliances were worn, as you might expect at a budget hotel. The compact bathroom was clean, but could use another safety rail in the step-in shower, a new toilet handle, and a better exhaust fan. I'd recommend Travelodge Croydon if you need inexpensive accommodation near London and aren't fussy about budget stays.

The place felt unwelcoming, with what seemed like a constant smell of weed throughout. Reception staff weren't helpful, and the standard rooms offered little comfort. Parking on the road was very limited and fairly expensive. There are much better places to stay.

The room wasn't up to basic hygiene standards and made for a very uncomfortable stay. In particular, the bath was dirty and clearly hadn't been cleaned properly before I arrived. I'm very disappointed with the cleanliness at this Travelodge in Croydon. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and cleaning improves. The experience was unacceptable.
