We were at the hotel for a friend's wedding. The room was comfortable and the accommodation itself was fine, and in other ways the hotel was lovely. But the bar manager's manner was disappointing. From the time we arrived, he made serving us and other wedding guests feel like a nuisance. I understand staff may be busy during events, but the service felt unwelcoming. When my partner ordered shots, we were told there weren't any shot glasses, which was fine. The manager then said the hotel "normally has classier customers" who don't need them. That was inappropriate and offensive. We'd spent £296 on our stay and didn't expect to be spoken to that way. All guests deserve courtesy and respect, whatever the event or clientele. I hope this is taken seriously and addressed with the staff member, as it spoiled an otherwise pleasant experience. I look forward to a response.

On our second stay, we especially enjoyed the hotel's Scottish character, from the design of the rooms to the snooker, Scottish breakfast, and Angus ribeye with great cocktails. The staff and hotel manager made everything smooth and pleasant. It's in a perfect spot by Royal Dornoch Golf and the beautiful beaches, with Dunrobin Castle and Glenmorangie Distillery only a few minutes away. Our favourite hotel in Dornoch, and a must-visit in Scotland. We'll definitely return.

We spent hours in the Game Room and bar, laughing late into the evening with our large party. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the hotel itself was charming and felt like our Scotland dream. Our room was warm from the towel warmer, but with the window open it was just right. We could hear seagulls in the morning. We rode the hotel bikes to the beach, golfed, and enjoyed good food at the hotel and in town. The recommended spa was amazing too.

The hotel was exquisite from the moment we arrived for our Valentine's night stay. We got a free upgrade to a sea-view room, which was clean and cosy, with a bed at least super-king size. Since the restaurant was closed for the off-season, we had dinner in Ross’s Bar instead. The food was fresh, excellent, and cooked perfectly. Guests can also use several sets of golf clubs if they're lucky enough to get a tee time at the famous RDGC next door.

This was just as perfect as our first visit, and this time we brought our two dogs. The staff are friendly and helpful, and nothing seems too much trouble. A short walk across the golf course takes you to a beautifully wide sandy beach.
