I was at the Royal Mackintosh Hotel for four weeks on a business stay, and I’d recommend it for either a short or longer visit. Alicia was especially welcoming and enthusiastic, and went above and beyond. Thanks to her and the rest of the staff. I can’t recommend the hotel enough.

The food had good gluten-free options, which was nice. Still, the hotel felt dated, and the room wasn’t very clean, with quite a bit of wear showing. I wouldn’t stay again.

The hotel has a dated look, but I think that’s part of its character. My room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the staff cheerful and helpful. The food was excellent, especially the haggis loaded fries, which were banging. The menu was good, and the bar had lots of choice, though some hotels can offer too much. Parking is difficult in any town, but there’s a train station car park about a four or five minute walk away. I paid £2.45 for 24 hours through Ringo. It’s an easy walk into town too. I’m going back next year.

The rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable. The staff were all excellent, and the food options were great and accommodating. The building looks amazing as you arrive and adds to the hotel’s charm. It’s right near the train and buses, and the front bar was great, with friendly guests and locals. I’d recommend it.

My room was comfortable, the window opened easily, and the shower had lovely hot water. I enjoyed breakfast and had one excellent evening meal. The hotel has a traditional, classic mansion house look, and it’s very central, under ten minutes on foot from the train station and right across from a main bus stop for Edinburgh and North Berwick services. Booking direct for three nights got me a good deal. It was a great choice for me, highly recommended.
