Alexandra Hotel Eastbourne

Our room was excellent and had sea views. We’d come to see a show at the Congress Theatre, just a five-minute walk away. The pier and the main shopping and restaurant area are about 15 minutes off, while Bistrot Pierre is only five minutes on foot. We arrived early, around midday, and although the room wasn’t ready, we could check in and get the room key. We also got the hotel guest parking permit for £2.35 cash. The staff were very accommodating.

The views are amazing, with the hotel right in front of the beach. The reception staff were kind and welcoming. Great location.

We had a room overlooking the seafront, and the facilities were excellent. Management was excellent too, and nothing was too much trouble. Stayed over Christmas and will definitely return.

I was staying room only, so can’t comment on the food. The hotel is handy for exploring the Sussex coast: about a minute from the sea, five minutes from the Towner gallery, and around ten minutes from the pier. Beachy head is roughly 15 minutes away by car. Eastbourne also makes a good base for Bexhill, Hastings, Brighton and inland places like Lewes. For the price, the place was far better than I expected. Winston and his staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. My single room looked recently refurbished, and was bright and clean with lovely views across to the beach. The toilet and shower were bijou, and the sink was in the room, but the fittings were fairly new and after all, you don’t sleep in the toilet. Tea, coffee and milk were plentiful and replenished every day. There was a hairdryer, TV and small wardrobe too. The hotel Wi-Fi was reliable, and cheap parking outside was available with a daily permit for £2.35. I’d highly recommend it for the friendly staff, facilities and location.
