Majestic Hotel Eastbourne by Belvilla

The staff were friendly and efficient, and both meals were good. Breakfast was very good, while the evening buffet had no choices. Our room had a comfortable enough bed, but the decor was poorly done and needs attention. The windows had been painted over, so they wouldn’t open, and they didn’t close fully either. There were gaps all around the door, which let light in.

Posting for a parent who recently stayed here on a Just Go Holidays coach trip and doesn’t have a Google account. The food was lukewarm at best, and breakfast included mouldy bread. The bathroom was in very poor shape, with a toilet lid that wouldn’t stay up, and there was no maintenance person around. When staff were told about the problems, they didn’t seem to care and said nothing could be done. There was no water from the first evening until 3:30am the next morning, when the toilet refilling woke them rudely. The hotel is very tired and needs a lot of money spent on it. It may be a budget hotel, but there’s a reason for that. If zero stars were possible, that’s what it would get. Definitely not recommended.

The location and the staff were the only good parts. The staff kept smiling through the complaints and tried to keep the hotel barely functioning on a very low budget. We were there on a JustGo Holidays coach trip and paid extra for a seaview room. Room 103 was spotlessly clean, but it and the rest of the hotel need to be completely gutted and refurbished. Old windows rattled and let in draughts, making the room extra cold, and the radiator didn’t work, so we had little heat most of the time. We had no hot water for all four nights. We raised these problems with staff, but they couldn’t do anything. Several people on our coach had similar or worse issues. The buffet breakfast and evening meals were basic and bland, and there was no vegetarian choice on the first night. Definitely budget meals. This is a no-frills one star hotel, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The sunrise over the water from my room was a real highlight. It was clean and comfortable, with a cozy bed, good shower pressure and everything I needed. The peaceful atmosphere made it easy to unwind. The Majestic Hotel has a charming vintage feel, and while some areas are still being updated, you can see the work going into improvements. Staff were warm and welcoming when I arrived, and check-in was quick and easy. Breakfast was amazing, and the hotel is handy for shops, restaurants and public transport. For a 5-star property, it exceeded my expectations in a lot of ways and felt like great value for the price. I’d definitely stay again.
