The building is 250 years old, with uneven floors and no lift, so keep that in mind. We slept five adults and it was a little cramped, but workable. The rooms were nicely appointed and the bathroom was lovely, though we did miss having a tea towel in the kitchen. The location is unbeatable, with lots of attractions an easy walk away and plenty of bus routes. We visited at Christmas, when there was a small market down the street and the Polar Bar and ice skating up the street.

The location was excellent, but my daughter and her friends stayed one night and cash was stolen from their room. Since the doors use a key code, we believe someone working for the organisation must have taken it. When she asked who had the code, they were told only the guests in that room had it. Reception was very unhelpful. They even asked why the headphones hadn’t been stolen, probably because AirPods are traceable. The receptionist seemed reluctant to offer any real support, and I believe she may have been involved in the break-in. I’ve tried calling, but no one answers. I asked for someone to call me back and am still waiting. Please avoid this place.

For our first stay of five nights, we were upgraded, which was wonderful for us. The rooms were very clean and well equipped, the location was excellent, and all the staff were very helpful.

We came for one night during a road trip and had our best night’s sleep of all the hotels and apartments on the trip. It’s a very nice attic apartment, close to one of the main areas and about 10 minutes from the discounted car park. Guests can get 10% off breakfast at a nearby Cafe. Our one issue was the room cleaner barging in an hour before checkout without knocking while my girlfriend was breastfeeding.
