Hampton By Hilton Edinburgh Airport

We ended up here after an Air Traffic Control outage at the airport led to Turkish Airlines staff going over their hours and our flight being cancelled. They put everyone up in nearby hotels while arranging new routes. We got a £25 meal voucher each, and really enjoyed the food here. Service was quick, and the staff were attentive and helpful. Hampton by Hilton Edinburgh Airport is just minutes from the terminal, handy for an early flight or late arrival. It's modern, clean and well designed for a short stay, with bright, quiet rooms, comfortable beds, powerful showers and good soundproofing from the nearby runway. There's a small bar and seating area, where you can order food and eat at any of the numbered tables. The calm atmosphere and friendly staff made it an easy place to rest.

We were pleasantly surprised by this airport hotel. After flying in from the US, it was a convenient place to get some rest before heading into the city. The room was pretty good overall, though the bathroom felt a bit tight. For one night, it was just what we needed. We appreciated the free breakfast and were satisfied with the options. When we checked out, we could easily walk over to pick up our rental car, then bring it to the temporary parking area to load our luggage. Would recommend.

The staff were so thoughtful. I kept turning down room cleaning because I was stuck here and didn't want to leave the room, thinking I'd be gone the next day anyway. After a few days, instead of asking about cleaning again, they checked whether I'd run out of teabags. I was here for days because of the weather and looked forward to checking out each day. The breakfast was better than I expected from an airport hotel, and there's a 24/7 bar with nice food. The bed and pillows were soft and comfy, and there's a machine for calling a taxi. The shower only went up to warm, not hot, which was too cold for me on a winter day. The air con was capped at 24 C, so I was still cold, though not freezing.

We still haven't received the partial refund we were promised, and after this experience I doubt we'd stay again, which is a shame given how handy the hotel is for the airport. A manager spoke to one of our party and apologised. At checkout, another woman from the management team was helpful and apologetic, took our room numbers and said she'd process the refund. Nadine had apologised to my sister the night before and said we'd receive a partial refund for the poor service. We were six people in three rooms on Thursday night. Graeme checked us in, but seemed uninterested and wasn't very helpful. I only found out breakfast times because a couple checking in beside me were getting help from a staff member. We had no issue with the rooms, but dinner was a shambles. Our meals arrived at different times, as we expected, but the delays were long enough that my husband and I had finished our mains before my sister and her husband had even received their starters. We asked four staff members for an update and none gave us one. Graeme, who is on the management team, went straight back behind the bar after my brother-in-law spoke to him. He didn't take interest, apologise or explain the delay. The food was average and overpriced, as were the drinks. I know it's an airport hotel, but £7.40 for a pint of Tenants is ridiculous.
