Malmaison Edinburgh City

I booked this hostel just an hour before arriving because I wasn’t happy with the place where I was meant to check in. Even with the holiday timing and short notice, the price was surprisingly low. I stayed from the 23rd to the 27th, and was very pleased with the location, service and cost. The staff were kind and supportive, and I thoroughly enjoyed the stay. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh and would use their branches in other cities.

We had dinner, bed and breakfast for a great price, and the staff were fantastic. It’s a great base for Edinburgh, especially if, like us, you’re going to an event at the playhouse. We had a lovely one-night stay.

I felt safe here, and the hotel was clean with friendly staff. The location is perfect, so I’d definitely recommend it, especially for a first visit to Edinburgh. My only gripe was the bed: it was two singles pushed together, with a dip in the middle. I paid over £800 for two nights during the holiday season and would have expected a proper double.

It’s a short walk, about seven minutes, from Scot’s monument. The rooms are nice and the staff were really friendly. Breakfast came with both the buffet and extra hot dishes, but I’d have liked more sweet choices on the menu and more savoury things at the buffet.
