Moxy Edinburgh Airport

For an airport stay, this hotel has what you need, and breakfast starts at 06:00. It was simple but tasty, just right before an early flight. The terminal at Edinburgh Airport is an easy, pleasant walk away, even with a couple of big bags, so there's no need to worry about a shuttle. Moxy Edinburgh Airport has a stylish purple and black look, with more of a boutique hangout feel than the usual airport stopover. It's relaxed and cool, which made the start of the trip feel less rushed. The parking charges seem questionable, though it's right by the airport and the lot would probably be abused if they didn't charge.

It was an absolutely fine, middle-of-the-road hotel, so don't expect too much. The decor is modern and casual, and that carries over to the bar-style food. It's simple fare, not a three-course dinner. On our night the staff seemed stretched and tired, so people waited a while for food and drinks. Check-in, though, was surprisingly quick. The room was okay, if small, but the beds were my main complaint. If you like a larger bed with lots of support, you probably won't find these comfortable. You could almost count the springs on two hands. That might be personal preference, but my short, lightweight partner moving even slightly shifted the whole mattress and woke me up. A lot of reviews seem to say the rooms are hot, but ours were freezing. Don't pay too much for this place. If you've got a car, I'd probably stay at the Dakota in Queensferry for a little more per night.

We came a week before Christmas and were impressed by how friendly the staff were, even though they seemed like they could be stretched thin at that time of year. My partner and I had a lovely, quick stay at Moxy. The atmosphere is relaxed and down to earth. The bed was comfortable, there was a decent amount of space, and the shower had great water pressure. Being able to walk to the airport made all the difference when we landed at 11pm and just wanted to get to bed. Staff were always friendly and helped us with directions.

We booked at the last minute after our flight was cancelled and were really pleased with the service. Staff were welcoming and took care of all our requests. Having reception available 24/7 was fantastic because we had an early checkout. The rooms were great and comfortable, and the bathrooms were nice, although our shower head wouldn't stay in place. Overall, a fantastic stay.
