The windows are very old, so wind and outside noise come through. That was the only downside I noticed during our one-night stay. The bus stop next to the hotel made getting around the city easy, and there's a shopping centre nearby for basic supplies or somewhere to eat. The room was clean and tidy, with a kettle, coffee, tea, other basic supplies, towels, and storage. Check-in was fast and straightforward. Good value overall!

For £309 for three nights, I expected a made bed and fresh towels each day. We stayed four days and the room was never cleaned once. When we asked at reception, we got attitude and were told towels would only be changed if we left them on the floor. We did that and still got no fresh towels. I had to ask repeatedly just to get clean ones for a shower, and they made it feel like an unreasonable request. The mugs were filthy, the toilet and surfaces were dirty, and everything felt unclean. I'll attach photos because it was genuinely disgusting. It felt more like a badly run house share or room rental pretending to be a hotel. The shower is right beside the bed, which is absurd for a hotel setup. Staff made it clear from the moment we arrived that they didn't want to deal with us. One Greek staff member in particular was outright rude and dismissive. He seemed to live in a room next to reception and acted as if coming out to do his job was a personal inconvenience. This was one of the worst hotel stays I've had. The place doesn't deserve to call itself a hotel. Avoid if you don't want to be ignored and disrespected in unhygienic conditions.

The floor was visibly dirty, and the room didn't feel properly cleaned. The bed was uncomfortable and itchy too. The worst part came at night, when I turned on the lights and saw a large yellow stain on the bedsheet. It was horrible and made me feel the sheets hadn't been changed at all. That ruined the stay and showed a lack of basic hygiene. I wouldn't recommend it.

The photo on Booking doesn't match the place at all. For £100 a night, it feels like a money grab. The room was cold, with drafts coming through cracks in the windows and door, and you could hear everything as if you were outside. Sleeping was out of the question. The bed creaked, the mattress felt like wood, the linen was dirty, the sofa had stains, and there were white marks on the floor. I don't even want to get into the bathroom. Cleaning clearly isn't something they know how to do. I paid for a room with a bathroom, but mine was outside the room, down the corridor. They hadn't said I'd need to bring slippers, and I was furious to find other people using it. Is it normal to walk in and find that someone has defecated and not flushed? Just awful. At reception, the man seemed unhappy to see us. He loudly said this was the last room and there was nothing else, then told the people who came after us the same thing. The Victorian-looking exterior gave an impression of comfort, but the stay was the opposite. It's hard to call this a hotel, it was worse than a hostel. Please look elsewhere and avoid this place.

I only stayed one night while heading south. It's not a five-star place, but I found it lovely and much better than expected. The double bed was comfy, the room was nice and warm, and the upstairs outer balcony was a bonus. The man at the desk was lovely, and I'd happily stay again. It's roughly 2 miles in a straight line from the station, handy if you've had a bit too much to drink the night before. Just one complaint: could they put shower mats in the room? The shower enclosure gets a bit slippery. Otherwise, I can't fault the place.
