The rooms have an old-fashioned but cosy feel, and the Beefeater restaurant on site is very good. Rates are extremely reasonable, and the staff were friendly and always smiling. I stayed here on holiday at the end of January. It's in a great spot, with a very reliable bus service into the city centre. I'd happily recommend Premier Inn Edinburgh East and will stay again.

The room was nice, though it stayed very cold even with the heating turned all the way up. Getting there from reception was a bit of a maze of stairs and corridors, but the signs were good. It's an easy spot for buses into and out of the city centre, and a good starting point for walking up arthur’s seat from the back. Breakfast was okay, the waitress was a little rude but nothing too serious, and parking was easy to reach and reasonably priced. A nice stay overall.

The restaurant was shut for most of our stay, and when it did open it was only serving breakfast. Still, we had a pretty good, peaceful stay. The area is quiet, and the price was good compared with other Premier Inns in the central area. Public transport is easy to reach, and the city centre is about 20-30 minutes away. Our room was clean and spacious. The staff were top notch, especially the Polish lady on the evening shift, who was the most helpful during our stay. There's also a Tesco very close by for quick shopping. Thank you.

I've stayed here several times, and the restaurant has let me down more than once. On one visit, they were having operational problems and only offered a continental breakfast. When I asked for porridge, a staff member wouldn't make it because the kitchen was having difficulties. On another stay, I'd prepaid for a two-course meal deal, but many menu items weren't available. I was looking for vegan options, so the choices were very limited and I could only get one course despite having paid for two. I was disappointed, especially as the meals were already paid for. If I'd known in advance, I would have eaten elsewhere.

The meal at the ‘Beefeater’ for both dinner and breakfast was awful. I wouldn't eat there again and have put the full details in a separate review on the ‘Beefeater’ page. I'd suggest eating out instead, since the food and service were well below standard. I wouldn't recommend this hotel or stay here again. The location is good, close to the city centre, but the view is a petrol station and building site with rubbish on the ground and graffiti. Better to keep the curtains shut. Parking was £3.50 for one day. Reception staff weren't welcoming and seemed keen to get rid of me. On three occasions I went for help and found nobody there, so I had to ring the bell and wait. Once, it took about six minutes for the receptionist to appear from the restaurant with a glass of coke. My room key card didn't work, so staff stuck two cards together to turn on the electrics, which didn't feel safe. The toilet seat was cracked with a piece missing, and there was no radiator in the freezing bathroom. Neither the thermostat nor wall heater worked, so I had to ask reception for a portable heater. The room was visibly dusty and needed cleaning, though the bed was clean and comfortable. The whole hotel felt dated and dusty and needs modernising.
