Virgin Hotels Edinburgh

Afternoon tea with my partner made for a lovely afternoon and evening, and Manager Ed kindly showed us the VIP Suites. The hotel was a real little gem in my home city of Edinburgh. We would’ve given it all five stars, but a nearby local nightclub could be heard playing music until 3:30am.

The terrace was a lovely spot, with views across Edinburgh, the Castle and Greyfriars Churchyard. It’s about a 10-minute downhill walk to Princess Street for shopping and Waverly rail station, though, obviously, the way back is uphill. The old town location is second to none. We had a castle view room that was funky, modern, stylish and clean, and the free happy hour each day was a nice extra and a great chance to meet other guests. Fab-u-lous, really. The hotel team were all incredibly friendly and helpful, whether at the desk, in the restaurants or in the bars.

We spent two nights at the hotel, and our rooms were comfortable and beautifully presented. The food was amazing too, and lots of our guests commented on it. Our daughter’s wedding there in June 2025 was the best day from start to finish. Jo was fantastic from our first enquiry, offering steady, professional support with all the planning and never making anything feel like too much trouble. On the day, Jo, Luke and the whole team went above and beyond. Their care for us and our guests, along with the attention to detail, meant everything ran smoothly and the day felt stress-free. We’re so grateful to Jo and the Virgin Hotel Edinburgh team for such a special, memorable wedding. We’d highly recommend the venue for a wedding or other special occasion.

The staff made us feel so welcome and went out of their way to help with everything we needed. The location also made getting around really easy. My stay was wonderful, with the hotel clean and well maintained, and I felt comfortable as soon as I arrived. I’d gladly book here again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
