The pub itself was welcoming and busy, and we had a lovely lunch with good friends. Our reserved table was in the main bar. The staff and food were lovely, and I would have given the experience five stars or more if not for what happened nearby. A group of six behind us was also having lunch with friends, while two families sat together at another table. One family left when their children got restless. The other parents stayed after finishing their meal while their young children cried and screamed loudly. The children weren’t to blame, but the parents seemed unconcerned about the other diners. When someone eventually asked them to take the tired children home, both parents reacted rudely and seemed astonished that anyone objected. Several people complained, and I feel it was the parents’ behaviour that caused the problem. Perhaps families with children could be seated in a separate area instead of the main bar. Rant over. Happy New Year, and hopefully, if the seating arrangements can be resolved, we’d love to return.

The food was fantastic, and the hotel is in a beautiful spot. We only stayed one night and wished we could have stayed longer. Our room was spotless, with a big bathroom, a comfortable bed, and good coffee cups, a bonus. The staff were incredibly friendly too. I’d highly recommend staying here.

We only came for dinner, so I can’t say anything about the rooms. The bar staff were friendly and efficient, thank you. The food was fantastic and good value. I had the fish and chips, which was easily a cut above what you get in most pubs. My wife enjoyed the Sunday carvery and said it was excellent.

We’ve stayed here before, but this time we just stopped in for lunch. It’s a lovely pub in a great location, with very friendly staff and good food. There’s an extensive menu to choose from.
