Metro Inns Falkirk

This wasn't suitable for us, especially with my back problems and need for help. Our room was at the far end, looked like a box room, and had what seemed to be a camp bed with a bunk above it. There was no shower in the room. Reception said they had no other rooms when we asked to move, so sadly we couldn't stay. They neither returned our money nor offered compensation. With disabilities, I wouldn't choose Metro Inns Falkirk.

Only the reception looked nice. There was no toilet or kettle with tea and coffee in the room, and the shower and toilet were along the corridor. The sink was dusty, several toilets were disgustingly dirty, and there was a smell in the room. The carpet was covered in dog hair. It didn't look like a three-star hotel at all.

We stayed one night on 27th July 2025, during a four-day, five-night football tour of Scotland. Edinburgh and Livingstone had both been lovely, and we booked this place to save money. Big mistake. It's on a site with other hotels and restaurants, but the sat nav postcode took us to a gardening centre across the highway. There was plenty of parking, though litter was all over it. The reception desk was so high the staff didn't notice us waiting to check in. The area was full of people charging phones because our room had only one socket. The room was filthy: worn carpet with stains and dog hairs everywhere, dust, stained walls and ceiling, leaves in the bed, stained sheets, and a disgusting smell. The window sill was falling apart and marked as if someone had counted down days. We could have cried. We went to the pub to get drunk enough to come back and switch off, but when we returned we couldn't bear the room and slept in the car. The other guests seemed rough, and the whole place reminded me of The Hills Have Eyes. Never again.

I booked one night expecting a hotel, but it felt more like a hostel: a private room with one sink and shared bathrooms and showers. The showers were filthy and needed more than a self-cleaning mode. If I'd wanted a hostel, I'd have booked one. The room and blankets were clean, but the carpet needed a proper vacuum. The beds were comfortable enough for one night, though they felt like futons, and the pillows were paper-thin. It works for a night.
