I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. My two-night stay at Lodge at Solent was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had, and the customer service was inadequate. The room wasn’t cleaned once during my stay. At check-in, nobody told me that housekeeping wasn’t automatic. The only explanation was on a small card in the room, in tiny print, saying I had to scan a QR code before 10 PM to request cleaning. That procedure was poorly visible and never properly explained. If a hotel doesn’t provide daily housekeeping as standard, guests should be told clearly at check-in, not left to discover fine print in their room. Because of this, I slept in an unmade bed for over a day, had to reuse the same towels without replacements and received no room service throughout my stay. The photos show the bed left unmade, the bathroom without fresh towels and the card with the QR code. The property also felt impersonal and the service standard very low. The policy itself isn’t the main problem, it’s the lack of transparency and communication. The whole experience was extremely negative. Avoid at all costs.

The area, parking and bar are very good, and I’ve stayed here many times. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but it’s a bit of a lucky dip because some have noise problems, apparently from the lift machinery or HVAC. The worst seem to be upstairs near the lift end. On my last stay, there was a low vibration all night. I regret not mentioning it then, but by that point I felt it was too late to start moving people around.

We ate at the Parsons Collar pub attached to the hotel, and May looked after our party. She was so courteous, friendly, attentive and helpful. She even got the ladies to order cocktails.

The staff were really helpful, and even let me leave my car there for the day after I checked out. This was a good spot for a couple of days on a business trip, with clean, comfortable rooms. The TV needs a device connected because it doesn’t get any channels. The attached pub serves a decent breakfast, and Solent business park is a 10-15 minute walk away. There’s a bus stop right outside too.
