We stopped at Krishna on the way home to have Sunday dinner with Mum instead of cooking. We hadn’t booked, though I’d suggest calling ahead to check. The Lasooni chicken Tikka starter was generous enough for us to share, with tender, moist chicken and gentle Tikka spices. Mum loves biryani, so she had the Krishna Special Dum Trio, a large serving of tasty rice with chicken, lamb and prawns. She chose the mild jalfrezi sauce, which went perfectly with it. I had lamb butter masala with rice, and the soft, tender lamb worked beautifully with the buttery sauce. Peshwari naan and sag paneer rounded out the table, along with a pint of Kingfisher on draught. Krishna is an Indian gastro pub, but you can pop in just for a drink. It’s very good, though I’d make time for a meal. I’ve had plenty of curries and travel to India often, and this is one of the best places I’ve eaten. It isn’t cheap, but it felt worth the money. We’ll be back soon.

The first time I visited, the food was spot on and really tasty, so I went back expecting the same. This time was a real letdown. The “biriyani” was just plain boiled meat thrown over fancy-looking pilau rice, with no depth, kick or flavour. It didn’t feel authentic at all. Never again.

We’ve visited several times and every meal has been superb, but the birthday gathering we held for my wife just before Christmas was the best yet. We booked a large party, and the help and service were excellent both beforehand and on the night. Great atmosphere, lovely food and drinks. Highly recommended!

The decor was lovely, the portions were a good size, and the service was good. We tried it on a Sunday evening because we love Indian food and had seen positive reviews. The food was lovely too. We’ll definitely return 😁
