That pie was fantastic, with a tender, succulent filling and pastry that just melted in your mouth. It came beautifully presented with veg cooked perfectly and still lovely and crunchy, plus tasty new potatoes that went so well with it. I can't recommend this place enough. Do yourself a favour and try one of their 52 pies. You won't be disappointed.

It's a really warm, welcoming pub, and the staff were lovely and helpful. There are 52 pies to pick from, with generous fillings and homemade chips. I had the Cleveland pie, packed with meat and wrapped in lovely pastry. They even have a board showing how many of each pie are left. We'll definitely be back!

We've been back several times, trying different pies, and have never been disappointed. It's probably the most interesting pie pub around, with 52 fillings ranging from steak and Guinness to Moroccan tagine and very spicy curry, plus a good vegetarian selection. You can have chips, mash or boiled spuds with it, and peas, mushy peas or mixed vegetables, with gravy and even an extra gravy boat. Portions are huge, but you can box up half to take home for later. The beer's good too.

I love this place, and the food was, as always, fabulous. But the way two staff members treated my 5 and 7 year olds was unacceptable. They're immaculately behaved, yet were spoken to very poorly. We were also put in the farthest corner of the back room, miles from the pub's atmosphere. When I asked why, one of the two unnecessarily rude staff said it was because we didn't have dogs, so we'd be seated away from them. We have no issue with dogs, and nobody asked us about it. We've eaten here with our children before and never been seated away for that reason. I was told the restaurant would get busy and have a similar atmosphere. When we left, the only other people there were a couple with a newborn. I imagine they wanted the peace. Being separated because we have children was, frankly, appalling. We booked well ahead and paid a fair deposit. Eating out is rare for us, and spending £200 on a Saturday afternoon isn't a small amount for most families. Tom the waiter was really good with the children, but the sour-faced lady and her colleague spoiled the experience. I won't make that mistake again any time soon.

There were 11 of us, and the service was fantastic. All the staff were cheerful and up for a laugh. Everyone was catered for, with great vegan options, and the pies were outstanding, the best I've ever had. Thanks for such a lovely evening. We'll definitely be back!
