The staff and food were superb, and the place was surprisingly decent. The shower was the one small annoyance: it took a good ten minutes to get hot, then suddenly stopped. Breakfast could also use a decent coffee machine.

We had a pleasant one night stay and would happily come back. The room was clean and warm, and the traditional breakfast was tasty. Staff were friendly too. The hotel is in a great spot right in the town centre.

Breakfast was good, though I was first in and the beans were already cold. Staff were friendly when we arrived, and it’s just a short walk to the high street. We stayed one night. The room was small but okay, although it needs an upgrade. The shower needs a proper clean, especially the bottom door runner, and the hot water wasn’t great.

The room wasn’t spotless and we were missing a towel at check in, but at first we thought the hotel was fine for what we’d paid. That changed when we used the jet bath and it filled with gross gunk as soon as the jets came on. Then we found a teaspoon from the previous guest, still sticky and smelling of coffee. Used cutlery like that really isn’t okay, and we were disappointed with the stay. If you’re touring the area, I’d suggest staying in Glencoe instead of Fort William. It’s considerably nicer.

The Indian food was poor and nothing like the authentic food it was marketed as. Even after we asked for the curries to be well cooked, they came out raw and undercooked. The room was tiny, with a narrow single bed that was extremely uncomfortable. There were no toiletries, no safe or proper place for documents and a passport, and the television was unusable because of its awkward angle and limited, unwatchable channels. There were almost no basic amenities, and it didn’t meet even my minimum expectations for a three star property. Although listed as a three star hotel, Imperial Hotel felt like a basic lodge. Misleading listing, bad food and poor comfort. I wouldn’t recommend it, wouldn’t stay again, and would avoid it if possible.
