Travelodge Glasgow Queen Street

The room was a little tight, and one delegate found it hard to move around the bed. Breakfast was plentiful but poor quality, and the next morning's spread was the same. On the first night, two representatives on the third floor had a very disturbed sleep: doors were tried, and we understand some people had to be removed from the building. Wi-Fi was free for just 30 minutes, then charged, which doesn't seem acceptable nowadays. At dinner, a delegate who had prepaid for a steak and ale pie was asked for another £1.50, a surcharge that wasn't shown on the menu. The pie seemed microwaved and was quite soggy. The following evening, two delegates asked for a lighter, lower-value meal, but were told they had to choose from the standard evening menu because dinner had already been paid for. One delegate has asked the company not to book this hotel again.

The location was the good part. The bedroom and bathroom smelled bad, and the room decor felt old to me. I expected the carpets to be properly clean if slippers weren't provided. The Wi-Fi was a surprise, free for only 30 minutes, and the connection was poor anyway, so don't bother.

We had a lovely city break with family and found the hotel very handy, comfortable, and staffed by excellent people. The receptionist was especially friendly and accommodating, and our room felt clean and welcoming. The beds were very comfortable, and the premium room had a well-stocked coffee station. A few maintenance details kept the accommodation from being perfect: the bathroom lamp was out, the bath plug was partly clogged, and the shower curtain was too long, so it stayed wet and smelled a little. There isn't parking at the hotel, but several car parks are a couple of minutes away. Ask at reception when you leave and they'll give you an NCP discount ticket. We stayed two nights for a birthday and would happily return.

The location is great, and parking is convenient, though you do pay for it. There was a discount. But our room smelled like someone had peed on the carpet and somehow felt damp. We asked for it to be cleaned and nobody came. Avoid if you have allergies.
