Black Bull with Rooms

We stayed for two nights as a family of four, two adults and two children. The location worked really well for exploring, and our room felt comfortable, clean, and welcoming. We also ate and had drinks in the pub and restaurant. The staff were excellent and the service was great.

The bed was comfortable, and even on a Friday night there wasn't much noise from the pub. The room was tidy and clean, with an ensuite and everything needed to make a cup of tea. The main drawback was that our window looked onto the courtyard smoking area, so we could hardly open it. Still, a great place for a night.

There was quite a bit of noise from the pub's outdoor area right below us. That wasn't ideal with a child, though luckily she sleeps well. Otherwise, it was a clean and comfortable basic room. One window had a broken hinge and couldn't really be opened. For a budget hotel, the good shower was a nice bonus.

We spent three nights here last weekend with my two teenage daughters, and the village was adorable. The train station at Cumbernauld is about a five-minute taxi ride away. The pub sits slightly to the side of the rooms, and its noise didn't bother us at night. There are several small food places nearby, plus a Spar and pharmacy just doors away. Our room was immaculate, with very comfortable beds and plenty of space to put our things. We couldn't hear the other guests, even though I know the rooms were occupied. On our last morning we had breakfast and coffee in the pub while waiting to go home. I didn't eat, but the girls said the food was lovely. The woman behind the bar was so helpful and cheerful, and the owner, Jacqueline, was lovely too. She did everything she could to help us throughout the stay. The photos don't really do it justice, especially since we'd unpacked by then. I'll definitely come back when I'm next in Scotland. I wouldn't even look elsewhere now. Thanks again!
