Travelodge Gloucester

The buffet breakfast, served from 8 to 11, was very good value. Food was better than I expected, quick to arrive, tasty and good value too. The bar had a good selection, and the bar and food lounge felt comfortable and well appointed. Staff were friendly and really helpful.

The price was good, but the stay wasn’t great. The location by the Quays was excellent, with plenty of places to eat nearby. Breakfast was the biggest letdown. Although the hotel was fairly empty, items often ran out and weren’t replenished quickly. During our three days, we found yoghurt, fresh fruit, tea bags, honey, milk, cups and hot chocolate missing at different times. Housekeeping also missed one visit even though we had the sign on the door. We had to go to reception for toilet roll, milk and tea bags. A few changes could make the guest experience much better.

The room was clean and tidy, and the bed was comfortable. Bedrooms are an okay size, though a hair dryer in the room would be useful. Breakfast was lovely, and I’d happily come back. The hotel is attached to Gloucester quays shopping centre, which made for a great stay.

The staff were polite and professional, and breakfast was good value. Parking was less convenient: there’s no free parking attached to the hotel and no easy place to drop off or pick up. I found free parking about a five-minute walk away, halfway down nearby Weston Road. Our top-floor room backed onto the multistorey carpark and the pub below. It was quite noisy late at night, with the sound echoing off the buildings. Still, given the price and convenient location, you can’t really go wrong. Overall, I’d give it four stars.
