From the drive up the lane, we were already taken with the place. The one-bedroom cottage turned out to be huge by most standards, with an impressive finish and loads of comfort. Everyone we spoke to on the farm was warm and friendly. We loved staying here and are definitely coming back.

Haltwhistle is around 12-15 minutes away by country road, and the setting here is very peaceful. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the owner made us feel very welcome. There’s a lounge guests can use as well. Breakfast was filling and superb, with a choice of full English, vegetarian English, or haddock with eggs, plus toast.

Lesley and Katie were lovely, and Katie greeted us after we walked in from the south east via a different route off a lane. She showed us the drying room and laundry straight away, which was brilliant. We had a tasty lasagna and vegetables that Lesley had made, just what we needed as walkers, and cooked breakfast was included too. The room was great, and downstairs there was a fabulous lounge with a bigger TV and an honesty fridge stocked with beer and vino. It’s a very quiet rural spot. We’re heading off today to continue our walk to JOG. Highly recommend.

We’ve stayed here three times over the years. This visit was with our dog so we could get away from the fireworks, and it was fantastic. The place was so quiet, and the dog loved it. There are lots of lovely walks and fresh air, so we’re all well rested now. Lesley, the owner, was friendly and easy to talk to.

The cottage was spectacular, spotless and spacious, with thoughtful decor that made it feel homely. The kitchen was well equipped and had fresh eggs from their farm, and we loved the cosy living room with its fire and the back garden with chairs. Upstairs was our favourite: a roomy, homely bedroom and a bathroom that exceeded expectations, with a massive bath and shower, all fabulously clean. Lesley was lovely when she greeted us on arrival and showed us around. She also gave us recommendations for nearby places to eat and checked on our last morning that everything was up to standard, which it certainly was. Thanks to Lesley for making our three-night trip extra special. We’re planning to come back in summer to enjoy the cottage’s stunning scenery.
