The food was amazing at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the service made my 70th birthday weekend feel magical. My husband and I stayed three nights over a weekend in January 2026 at the beautiful Twr Y Felin Hotel. We’d booked on a 3 for the price of 2 offer, but never felt we received less service than a full-paying guest. On arrival, a lovely smiling receptionist, who I think may have been called Fiona, told us we’d been given a complimentary upgrade. She explained the facilities and breakfast arrangements, checked our dinner reservation for that evening and our Sunday lunch booking, then showed us to the room and explained where everything was. It had a balcony with a table and two chairs and a lovely view of St Brides Bay. After dinner on the first evening, I was given a lovely wooden Welsh Love Spoon as a birthday present. Back in the room, we found a birthday card on a table and a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge. We’d highly recommend a stay.

A birthday card and chilled bottle of fizz were waiting in our room when we arrived, a thoughtful touch that set the tone for a memorable stay. We were celebrating a milestone birthday, and the staff gave us such a warm welcome, with real care and attention throughout. Every person we met was attentive, respectful and committed to high standards. The beautiful surroundings added to the experience. We’ll always cherish the visit and will definitely return. We can’t recommend Twr y Felin Hotel highly enough.

Service was exceptional, and breakfast had an excellent selection. The hotel is beautiful, and we had a spacious, well-appointed dog-friendly ground-floor room with large patio doors onto its own little patio and garden. Our dog was treated royally and loved her bed. We struggled to sleep comfortably in the beds because we’re both somewhat arthritic. The sumptuous bathroom had a huge bath, but I found it hard to get out and would have appreciated a grab handle. I loved the room’s ambience and design. Noise from people walking in the room above was clearly audible, and we couldn’t get fresh air at night without opening the patio door. We didn’t have an evening meal.

The hotel and room were impressive, and the restaurant food was very good. A couple of details let the stay down. After our mains, restaurant service felt lacklustre, and it took ages to order dessert, even though the high-end restaurant had very few diners. On our departure morning, the shower was broken and we couldn’t get the hot water working, although the bath worked fine. At these room prices, I’d expect that basic function to be checked before guests arrive.

St David’s is close to the sea, and its small size can be deceptive. If you walk the coast path between St David’s and Ramsey island, you’ll see just how much there is to explore, with memorable views if the weather is good. It’s one of Wales’ smallest cities. There’s also St Asaph farther north, with another cathedral. You should visit St David’s cathedral if you haven’t already, and if you haven’t been to St David’s, go. One thing’s certain, you’ll come back again.
