We both went for the homemade steak and kidney pie, with creamy potato and seasonal vegetables. Everything was delicious, including the green beans, cauliflower cheese and sweet potato mash, all cooked just right. The service was, as usual, friendly, courteous and professional. We were driving away from Glossop looking for a nice pub meal when The Lamb sign suddenly appeared through the food, and it reminded me of the great meal we had there last year. We turned in straight away. Hopefully I'll remember where this lovely pub is when we're back in the Derbyshire Dales.

The meal was fantastic, and the staff were really friendly and attentive. Our hotel's owners recommended this pub, so we thought we'd give it a try. We're very glad we did and will definitely return.

We were warmly welcomed and the staff checked in without being pushy. They managed to squeeze us in after a long walk on Valentine's Day, even though we looked like scruffs and were taking a chance. The room was lovely and warm, with a roaring fire and friendly atmosphere. The menu was a little limited, but the options looked delicious, and sometimes specializing is a good thing. I had the rack of lamb and my misses chose the duck. Both were absolutely cracking and perfectly cooked, with incredibly flavoursome dauphinoise potatoes. The portion left me satisfied but still with room for dessert, maybe that was deliberate. I couldn't resist the bread and butter pudding. It came listed with ice cream, which seemed madness to me, but they were happy to swap it for the only acceptable accompaniment, custard. It was lovely, warm and buttery with a hint of nutmeg. Two courses and a couple of drinks each came to about £80. For the quality and atmosphere, I thought that was great value. Would definitely recommend.

We spent two nights here over New Year and had a stunning stay. The room was immaculate and comfortable, with a king size bed and quality linen. The inn felt homely, with a roaring log burner and a well laid out space. There was a good choice of wines and ales, and a superb evening menu. Breakfast was worth the wait. We chose it the night before, which I think is the best way. Compliments to all the kitchen staff. The staff were impeccable and accommodating, and management were always on hand. We'll definitely be back for a stay and a meal next spring. Thanks to a great team at the Lamb!
