The room was spotless, and housekeeping deserve five stars for that, especially knowing how little time they have. But room 126 smelled dreadful, like off onions. I opened the windows and went out for a meal, and it was a little better when I came back. I only needed a bath or shower and a bed for a business trip after a three-hour drive, so the basic room was fine. An iron would have been useful. The male receptionist was smoking by the entrance when I arrived, which wasn’t a good first impression. He was coolly helpful but did his job efficiently. There’s plenty of parking if you follow the road around the back. It was easy to find and good value, though noisy because it’s so busy. No frills, with a Brewers Fayre on site and a vending machine. I might return, mainly because of how clean the room was. Thanks again, housekeeping 👍

We had a lovely stay and would come back. The family room was clean and fresh, and the evening meal was delicious and arrived quickly. Breakfast at the brewers fayre was very good, and the two ladies in Christmas hats were especially friendly and welcoming. All the other staff were pleasant and helpful, and Kiran was a ray of sunshine at checkout. The person at reception wasn’t very welcoming when we first arrived and seemed to lack personality. Maybe it had been a long day.

Breakfast at the restaurant was good, though the whole place feels tired and ready for a refresh. The bedroom was fairly standard Premier Inn, but there were no plugs by the bed. There’s also a strange smell in the corridor behind reception, which I think is a permanent feature since it’s been there on previous visits. The bathroom really needs renovating. Some tiles are cracked or filled with silicone, there are dark marks in the grout, and black specks on the ceiling that might be mould.

I’d read the mixed reviews and seen mention that parking was limited because of refurbishment, but I found a space when I arrived, with plenty more outside the Brewers Fayre side later in the evening. For the price, it was a great deal. I was pleasantly surprised by the room and facilities. It was clean and comfortable, and had a kettle, mugs, tea, and coffee, which I hadn’t expected.

We stayed for one night in a family room. Our son was given a little welcome pack with a drink, biscuits, and colouring activities, which was a lovely touch. The room was tidy and clean, the bed comfortable, and the shower hot. We weren’t disturbed by noise from the hotel works, and the reduced parking mentioned in an email didn’t cause us any trouble. Dinner and breakfast were good. Ordering dinner took some effort because I had to repeat it several times, and despite the restaurant not being busy, there was a long wait between the main course and dessert.
