The wildlife was one of the best parts of our weekend: geese, peacocks and chickens wandering the grounds, fresh eggs left for guests to take, and rescued pigs that show how much the place cares for animals. We stayed in the spacious, gorgeous Broughton house with our dog winston, who loved the long scenic walks. We came to Irton hall on friday for a long weekend away from the bustle, and the location was stunning and full of history. Coming back to light the log burner with the provided logs was pure bliss. The restaurant's menu changes daily, with a wonderful selection, fresh ingredients and generous portions. It was just the break we needed to recharge, and we can't wait to return.

Just got home from four days at Irton Hall and I'm already wishing I could turn the car around. The manor is stunning, and the staff were so welcoming, especially Emma. The food was TOP TIER, and their hidden gem description is spot on. It's dog friendly too, with an INCREDIBLE setting for wondrous hikes and long beach walks, plus plenty of pubs to stop at. Truly a magical weekend.

The games room was a favourite, and the food was spectacular. I spent a few nights over New Year’s at Irton Hall with 10+ friends, including children, and we stayed in the amazing Pele Tower. The staff were friendly and attentive. Best place I've stayed in the lakes by far, and I'll be back next year :)

We had a cosy night in the end, but Room 3 was freezing when we arrived on a cold, rainy, grey day. The radiator was off, and when I switched it on, it wasn't putting out enough heat to warm the room quickly. The bathroom was like a freezer. To their credit, the staff brought a mobile heater within 15 minutes after we asked. It was still chilly later, with cold air coming from the bathroom, so we requested another heater. That one arrived too and finally did the trick. We spent the first two hours unable to take our coats off. The Valentines Menu was outstanding. The chef deserves 10/10: starter, main course and dessert, the best meal out I've had in ages. We enjoyed the stay, and the hotel and grounds are lovely, but I felt sorry for the two women working that night. They were run off their feet covering reception, the bar, waiting tables and even maintenance, including delivering the heaters. Their service was excellent and they're a credit to the hotel, but I think the owner needs more staff.
