Burn Hall Hotel

I stay here for work every week, and the team make check-in easy. Tom on the food and beverage team is always friendly and chatty, and Nikki handles bookings wonderfully efficiently. The food and service are fantastic. Rooms are clean and tidy, a little basic, but comfortable for an old hotel. EV charging is a handy bonus, and getting here from York is easy. I’ve tried a lot of hotels nearby, and this one is right up there for value and service.

There’s plenty of parking, and breakfast was excellent, with good tea and coffee. I didn’t know vegetarian food could be pre-ordered, though, as there was no information about it on the table or in the room. The staff were kind and amazing, and the hotel was spotless. My room was exceptionally clean, the bed very comfortable, and it had most of the modern conveniences. The shower was fantastic, though I was nervous about setting off the smoke alarm and being fined. The place feels a little tired, but the cleanliness made up for that. There was no USB connection in the bedroom, and we’d forgotten our adapter.

We had a large bathroom, and both the room and the staff were excellent. The reception team gave us a lovely welcome. Keep in mind that you need a bank card for the £0 room deposit. Breakfast the next morning was very good, with the usual full English, cereal and toast. Vegan options were available if requested. There’s plenty of parking, though you’d struggle without a car. York is far enough away that driving in is no trouble, but we drove to the train station and used the park and ride because parking there was much cheaper. Phone reception was very limited, and the Wi-Fi in our room was weak and often crashed. That wasn’t enough of a problem to lower my rating.

We had a lovely weekend, and the food was always fresh and cooked really well. Callum deserves a big thank you, his service was just perfect. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We couldn’t complain about a thing and would definitely come back.
