Old Grey Mare Inn by Good Night Inns

A great place to meet our daughter, who studies at the University just across the road.

The room was cold because its heating didn’t work, and the windows let the wind in. There was a party in the next room, with smoking that left my room smelling of tobacco, plus loud music and people all night. I told reception, but nobody stopped it. The hotel was very noisy in general, and you could hear everything. There was no night emergency call assistance or security.

It’s a clean, quiet place, and the staff were polite and welcoming. The hallway layout felt a bit odd, like a maze. And for God’s sake, change those taps 😅. I’d definitely recommend it for business or leisure.

I stay here whenever work takes me to the area. There’s free parking, the rooms are more than adequate, and the staff are always helpful. Breakfast and evening meals are cracking, and I can have a beer without worrying about driving anywhere. One small tip if you stay: don’t order meals through the Green King app. Guests get 20% off when ordering directly at the bar.
