Breakfast had a good spread, with well-cooked hot options and enough continental food and drinks for everyone. The black pudding was the exception for me, a bit bland and dry. We were rushing, so missed the pancakes. The room was clean and roomy enough for four, with all the beds made up when we arrived, which is unusual for the kids' beds. There was a good coffee machine, tea supplies, a mini fridge with complimentary snacks and drinks, and nice soaps, shampoo and creams in the bathroom. The children were also given free snacks and drinks, and the receptionist was helpful and explained everything we needed to know. The hotel is about 10 minutes from the centre of Ipswich, and all the staff we met were polite and professional. Dinner was the low point. The staff were helpful again, but the steak came dry and well done instead of medium rare, and the steamed sea bass was dry and bland. The burgers were okay and the chips were very nice. We'd normally have sent the steak and fish back, but the kids were exhausted and we'd already waited 40 minutes, despite there being only two tables. We could have gone out for dinner, so I haven't counted that meal in my rating. I'd recommend the hotel if you're in the area.

We booked through Expedia for an anniversary weekend. The location is great, and everything seemed fine when we arrived. The room was sold as having a king bed, but it was two uneven singles zipped together on castors, and we slept uncomfortably. After a short shower the bathroom floor flooded, so we had to mop it up with towels. Pretty gross. We reported both problems at reception. They said moving us would inconvenience housekeeping because the hotel was busy. They offered member points, which we declined because we rarely stay in HI, then offered two free drinks, which felt like adding insult to injury. The hotel was noisy, with sounds from other rooms and banging from the floor above. Breakfast was overpriced for a cold selection. Staff were nice and apologetic, but let guests stay in rooms they weren't happy with and made no effort to fix the actual problems. Other guests could run into the same things. Customer comfort clearly wasn't catered for, and we were disappointed. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The staff were the best part of my stay. They were friendly, welcoming and personal, and the customer service was top notch. I'd stay again because of them. I was there for one night as part of a package. The hotel is a decent size, with plenty of parking, a decent bar and restaurant, and a small gym that felt a little tired. The room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable, and although there was no air conditioning, there was a fan.

For a wedding stay, this was great. Francis and Georgina were especially welcoming and helpful. No complaints, and it's the best Holiday Inn I've stayed in.

The rooms were clean, parking was free, and the hotel staff were really good and friendly. The bar and restaurant menu is the downside: it's pricey and there's not much choice. They could definitely improve that.
