The Burton Hotel And Cloud Nine

They made our birthday gathering feel really welcome. There was a large group of us, including young children, and the staff found us a spot where the kids could play without bothering other guests. They checked in on us throughout lunch, and there was plenty of food. Thanks for helping make the party such a success.

The real highlight for me was getting an appointment with Gemma, the sports therapist. I’d travelled up for a golf tournament and hurt my back, so I wasn’t sure I’d be able to play. After half an hour with her, I was ready to go. She explained things clearly and really knew her stuff. I’m coming back next month for a longer appointment to sort out the rest of me. Just superb. The pub and spa were great too, and the staff were very helpful.

The restaurant was so good that we ate there on both evenings, and breakfast was freshly cooked to order and very good too. The food is excellent quality for the price. The hotel is also handy for exploring the Wye valley area, with free parking, and we can see why people return. We'll come back at some point. Kington itself doesn't have much to offer, though. We arrived a little early but were still given our room. Tegan showed us around and seemed to be everywhere at once, a very busy young lady. Our family room had a small double bed and a single, plenty of storage, and a good sized bathroom with two sinks and a shower over the bath. The gym and pool are connected to the hotel and free for guests to use.

There were toys about for children, plus a Minigolf course on site, though we didn't have kids with us. The town seems well set up for walkers, with trails of different lengths and a guide available from the tourist info or on their website. We’d come back if we can. The staff felt genuinely friendly, not just corporate friendly, and the bar was clearly popular with locals as well as hotel guests. The spa even had a bar billiards table, much to my wife's dismay. The pool was a decent size for a hotel. This place really was top notch.
