High Greenside Farmhouse B&B

Sheep on both sides of the car as we drove up to the farmhouse made for a promising start. It’s a working farm but feels wonderfully peaceful and secluded, with a village pub serving good food and beer within walking distance. Angela was a fantastic host and made us an excellent breakfast. Our room was a little small, but spotlessly clean and had everything we needed, including use of a fridge. The walking country right on the doorstep is stunning.

The views are great, and there are a couple of good pubs nearby for meals. This old farmhouse could suit walkers who just need a place to rest, shower and get breakfast. The owner is friendly, and the rooms are basic. If you’re hoping for a luxurious farmhouse stay, this probably isn’t the place. The rooms are very dated, with carpets, curtains and furniture from the 1960s and 70s. Everyone has different tastes, so it depends what you’re after.

We stopped here while walking the High Dales Way and got a lovely welcome from Angela. She had the room well appointed, with hot drinks and fresh milk available. It was lovely seeing the lambs playing in the fields. My husband was struggling with a chest infection, so Angela very kindly drove us to the pub. Breakfast was excellent, made with local produce.

A cosy room, a quiet spot apart from the sheep, and a tasty breakfast. There are a couple of lovely pubs within walking distance, too. Just what we needed before heading back to work!
