Premier Inn Lichfield City Centre

We took our 4-month-old on one of our first trips away from home and left worried about our health. There were several patches of mould in the room, and the paint was peeling. We brought a thermometer that also measures humidity, and the reading never dropped below 80. The staff were lovely, so I didn’t want to post a negative review, but nobody responded to the feedback form we completed. That left us adding this review with photos. I’d advise against staying here. You shouldn’t have to pay for a room with such obvious mould.

The room was spacious and clean, and I slept really well during my four-night Christmas stay. It could use more cupboard space, though. For two people, there wouldn’t be much room to hang or put away all your clothes. The staff were very friendly, especially Faye and Darlene, and they gave me a free English breakfast. The hotel is in a great spot, about a 10-minute walk from Lichfield City station and the amazing three-spired cathedral. I was very happy with the room’s cleanliness and comfort, and with how friendly everyone was, particularly Faye.

Breakfast staff were attentive, and Tracey was friendly enough to save the day. Without her, we’d have left with a completely negative impression. The lift wasn’t working, which caused a problem. Check-in was dreadful. We were left waiting for 45 minutes while the manager took drink orders, advised people about food, and seemed to do everything possible to avoid speaking with us. There was also a spill in reception early in the evening, and it was still there after midnight, leaving the floor dangerously slippery.

Our short break was wonderful. The room was spacious, warm, and very clean, and breakfast was really nice. They even offered to cook something fresh for us. From arrival to departure, every staff member was kind, friendly, and helpful.
