The Liverpool Inn Hotel

On a busy Saturday night, we found the room clean, warm and cosy, and the hotel lovely. The owner Thomas and Alan on reception looked after us really well while we sat in the bar having a cup of tea. Highly recommend it for family-owned hospitality.

The central location and the receptionist’s understanding when we arrived late were welcome, but we paid £360 for two nights in one room for three adults and the room fell far short of what I’d expect at that price. It was very small and there was street noise, both of which I could accept for the area. The state of the room was harder to overlook: a strong smell from the carpet, worn beds and bedding, sheets that didn’t look freshly changed, and visible marks on the walls. There were no slippers, and the room felt uncomfortable to stay in. We left a day early because, for us, the hygiene standard wasn’t acceptable. When I raised it at reception, all I got was “OK.” Although the property is listed online as 4 stars, I’d rate it much lower based on this stay. If cleanliness and comfort matter to you, I’d avoid it.

The rates are reasonable, the location is excellent, and the rooms are good. A solid option if you just want somewhere well-priced to shower and sleep while travelling. I recommend it.

Had a great wee stay while I was over for a Liverpool match. You’re right by the nightlife, and everything you need is close. The train station’s only a five-minute walk away.
