Premier Inn London Putney Bridge

The room was comfortable and had what we needed for a relaxing few days at Putney Bridge Premier Inn. What made the stay especially pleasant was the reception team. They were warm and attentive, and check-in and check-out were easy. After checkout, they also let us leave our luggage there, which was a big relief. Thanks to all the staff for their genuine help and hospitality. We’ll definitely return.

Premier Inn Putney bridge is a time warp. You can come and go freely, but the place otherwise feels like a 1970s boarding school about to shut for lack of funding, or a borstal. The warped MDF in the bathroom, cheerfully indifferent artwork and feel-good pamphlets insisting everything is fine all add to the effect. Bravo, Premier Inn.

The location is excellent for buses, the Underground and the Uber boat, and breakfast was good and kept replenished. Most of the staff were friendly, though the bedroom cleaner never spoke or smiled and wasn’t pleasant, especially when I asked for fresh towels. I didn’t need the room cleaned during my four-night stay. The hotel needs a full renovation to reach usual Premier Inn standards. The air conditioning didn’t work, although at least the windows opened for fresh air. WiFi was poor, and the shower had very weak water pressure.

The staff were good, and the room was spacious and fairly quiet. The flashing lights on the car park barrier were distracting, though. The bathroom was tatty and looked like an unskilled handyman had tried to fix it. Huts from a building site suggest refurbishment may be underway, and it’s badly needed. For what I paid, the view was just as pictured. I’d expected more for the price of a five-star hotel with a balcony overlooking the Med, perhaps a river view or a look over bustling London.
