Premier Inn London Southwark (Bankside)

This little inn felt cozy, and its location was a big plus. It's beside the Thames, with a pub next door that's open until midnight, and we could easily walk out to see the New Year fireworks. There were four of us, including two teenagers, and the three beds worked for our family. Breakfast had the traditional English options and a good range of choices, though the selection might not change each day. We had a great few days in London.

We stumbled across this hotel while looking for breakfast on the south bank on Saturday, which turned out to be harder to find than we expected. The reception team welcomed us warmly, and although it was 11 o'clock, when breakfast usually ends, they still served us. Dining room and kitchen service were fabulous, the food was absolutely delicious, and it was good value. It made our day.

I've never written a review before, but Bhanu deserves recognition. He was on his own at breakfast, covering both front and back of house, and doing such a good job that it might not have been obvious. He kept the hot plate stocked, cleared tables, kept everything immaculately arranged, and kindly checked whether we wanted more eggs while making poached eggs for other guests. His hard work and positive attitude would make him a great asset to any employer. The other staff have been great too, and we've had a lovely stay.

The location is excellent, and the staff were responsive, attentive, informative, and really polite. The room was clean, and the beds were tidy and very comfortable after a long day of work or exploring. My only other small nuisance was the lack of outlets near the bed. There were only two in the corner, so I couldn't charge my phone or laptop bedside. The Wi-Fi was awful too. I don't know if that's chain policy, but the free service was practically nonexistent, while the premium option cost 5GBP a day. That's very greedy when rooms cost close to 200GBP a night.
