Manor Hotel

For a cheap, no-frills place in the area, this was comfortable enough and I'd recommend it. The hotel is fairly central, with Earl's Court tube station nearby. The decor is dated, but the service was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and I slept well without much hassle. I got back around 10:30pm after a late event, slightly drunk, and had no trouble using my key card. One thing to know is that there didn't seem to be a shower, at least in my room. The floor shared a bathroom, but that didn't have a shower either. They'd left a towel, soap, and shampoo in the room, so I washed my hair in the sink. Not ideal, but the stay was otherwise cheap and comfortable.

The heat was the main problem during our two nights in London. The room had no AC, and the windows only opened a tiny bit, so there was barely any air. We couldn't sleep much of the night because it was so hot. I wish we'd asked about a fan, though I'm not sure they had one. We never saw anyone at reception, and when we got in late we forgot to ask. The bathroom was nice, but shower water drained too slowly, leaving us standing in a lot of water. The room was basic, with no mini fridge or iron, though they lent us an iron when we asked. Check-in was a bit unusual, but quick and efficient: we were given a door code and another code to collect our key cards because we were arriving later. I don't think I'd return, though for the price I wouldn't call it a bad hotel. A fan in the rooms would have made our stay much better.

The area is handy for a short stay, and the beds and towels were clean. I wouldn't suggest staying longer, though, because there was quite a bit of mold on the bathroom ceiling and in the shower.

I paid £40 for a private room with a shared bathroom, less than the roughly £50 I've paid before for a 12 bed dorm in a London hostel. The receptionist then upgraded me to a triple room with its own bathroom at no extra cost. It was quiet and lovely, and that completely made my day. Amazing service, would recommend!
