North Star Glamping

The location is lovely, quiet and wild all at once, and the host was fantastic. The pod is cosy and warm, with everything our family of four needed: TV, kitchen, bathroom, hot water in the shower and heating. Our two children loved it and wanted to stay forever. Much better than a hotel!

We were very comfortable in the Whaligoe pod for our one-night stop on the NC500. It’s well laid out, with a luxury shower room and loo, a practical kitchen space and a roomy double bed. Mirrors and wall space are used cleverly, so it feels quite big. The pods are well placed just off the route, and being able to book just one night was useful. We’ve stayed in a few places along the way, and this wasn’t the cheapest, but it was one of the best. The owner was lovely and welcoming, and made sure we had what we needed. In the evening we walked a couple of miles to Lybster Harbour. We had fantastic weather and a magnificent sunset. The owner said she’s seen the northern lights there on occasion. One thing to know: there’s no WiFi, so you’ll need your phone’s data to get online. Apart from that, 10 out of 10 from us.

Maggie met us at the pod soon after we arrived and was super friendly. We only had one night and wished we could have stayed longer. The place had the great vibe we wanted, with lovely decor and everything brilliantly appointed. The firepit out front adds character, and the offer of marshmallows was such a sweet touch. Great location and fab service, a really ideal getaway for a couple. I’d recommend it to anyone.

My friend and I tried glamping for the first time, staying one night in May 2024 on a recommendation. The pod had everything we needed, finished to a very high standard.
