The Green Dragon

Good pints, and lots to explore if you can squeeze past the quirky locals at the bar. The pub is huge, a bit of a tardis. It starts with a traditional front bar full of old features, then keeps going further and further back, with more rooms, two pagodas and a beer garden as long as six neighbouring terraced houses.

We made a very unplanned stop while travelling across the UK, and it turned out really well. The staff were very friendly, and the rooms were clean and very reasonably priced. We didn’t eat, but the drinks were good and fairly priced too.

We came in for lunch when the pub seemed quiet, and ended up waiting a good 40 minutes for our order. The food was flavoursome and came in great portions, though, so we weren’t disappointed once it arrived. The menu was very inclusive for my Coeliac partner.

After a less than pleasant visit to a pub just down the road, some of our ladies football team came here today. The pub itself is beautiful, and both members of bar staff were welcoming and friendly. They even sorted out last-minute food orders for us. The food was lovely, and we really appreciated the staff’s service. We’ll definitely come back when our fixture is rescheduled. 😊
