George And Abbotsford Hotel

The man I support enjoyed his scampi, and our meal was nice. I picked the chunky onions out of my chilli chicken, though I personally found them too large. Getting to the dining area was difficult for him because there are stairs. Then, through no fault of the restaurant, a pipe band crowded right beside us while we were eating. They were very loud, leaned on his walker, and had their backsides right next to his head.

The hotel was right in the centre of Melrose, which was perfect for me. I stayed for two nights at the end of September. My room was clean and comfortable, the staff were pleasant and helpful, and I really enjoyed the breakfasts.

Stopped by for a drink and really liked the bar and its atmosphere. The bar staff were friendly, and there’s a great choice of red wine by the glass. I’ll be back 😁👍🍷

The room and hotel were clean and fresh, and the property itself is older but beautiful. My room was a nice size, with a very soft, comfortable twin bed, an extra chair, and a lovely window that opened onto the courtyard. There’s no fridge or microwave, but there is a kettle for instant coffee or tea. The TV had nice cable options, and the Wi-Fi worked wonderfully throughout the hotel. The bar and restaurant have lovely seating indoors and outside, all on the ground floor. The bathroom shower was a little small for me, especially with my mobility issues, though the handheld shower head helped. I also didn’t realize that “first floor” here in Scotland means one level up, unlike in the US, and I had trouble with the stairs. The staff helped with my luggage, which was very kind. Check-in was quick and easy despite trouble processing my US debit card. The clerk was friendly, patient, and helpful, and the location is awesome.
