Travelodge Milton Keynes at The Hub

The reception team were polite, efficient and welcoming, and the location and parking are convenient. The parking spaces are tight, even for a medium-sized car. My room was clean but basic, and it was cold because the window didn't seal well when closed. The air-con was quite loud when running, and you could hear TVs from other rooms. I thought the cool blue colour scheme felt like a medical institution, not cosy at all. The shower was okay. The Wi-Fi is so slow it's almost unusable, and after 30 minutes you have to pay. Make it work or remove it as a facility. Mobile signal inside is poor too, so that's not much of an alternative.

For the price, the stay was great value, and the buffet breakfast finished it off nicely. Kelly and Ricky deserve a mention for keeping the buffet fresh and topped up. The customer service was amazing, and I'd happily stay again. The room itself was very basic, as you'd expect at this price. There was no soap in the bathroom dispenser, and the shower drain overflowed.

We booked a quiet room on the 7th floor, but it was very hot, so we had to open the window. That meant we were woken during the night by customers at the slug & lettuce. At 9pm we asked for a fan and were told there weren't any. The person who told us was a security guard, as there was no reception staff there.

Like other Travelodge sites, the breakfast was reasonable, but the bar selection was poor. The main problem was the car park: it's a large multi-storey, and the only free spaces were on level 11. There was no lift.
