The Famous Star Hotel

The Sunday Roast was excellent, with generous portions, and the service was exceptional. We had our two-year-old with us and they made sure she was well catered for. The staff were pleasant and accommodating.

We had a superb evening meal in the bar, in a lovely atmosphere with pleasant staff and well-kept real ale. The starters were lovely, and both the Beef rump and pan fried Venison were astounding for flavour and presentation. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. A very welcoming hotel, highly recommend!

We booked online while passing through Moffat for a family gathering, and our group of 10 sat upstairs. There was a good menu, including vegetarian, children's and gf options, plus a good range of drinks. The staff were friendly and helpful, and suggested places to visit. As advertised, the hostelry is long and narrow, a bit quirky but lovely and welcoming. We'd definitely recommend it and come back next time we're in the area.

We came on Friday as a family of five, having visited a couple of times in summer. The food has been amazing every time, but Friday's braised beef and steak pie were something else, the meat just melted in your mouth. The sticky toffee pudding was beautiful too. Definitely worth driving over three hours for, and we'll be back.
