Punch House Monmouth

The steak I had at The Punch House pub in Monmouth was excellent, cooked just right and really tasty. It gets busy and seems popular, so I'd phone ahead and book a table. The staff were attentive and friendly, the pub welcomes dogs, and the atmosphere felt warm, with a nice mix of visitors and locals. We really enjoyed our visit and will be back.

The prices were reasonable and the service decent, which kept this from dropping below 3 stars. Still, the food was average, maybe a little worse. I had beef & Ale pie and halloumi fries, and both tasted like they'd come straight from a freezer bag, possibly from Iceland across the road.

The team made our weekend feel really special. Everyone was kind and friendly, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. After the recent flooding, they worked overtime to give people affected by it a safe haven. Special people and a special place, thank you 🙏

There's plenty of seating indoors and outside, and the prices are good. It's an old pub at the top end of the high street, with water bowls and biscuits by the entrance. Very welcoming to dogs.
