We had Room 2 and family Room 4, and both were immaculately clean, homely and nicely furnished. Room 4 also had a mini fridge. There was a kettle with a good selection of tea, coffee and biscuits. Toni was helpful before we arrived, and the check-in instructions were clear. Parking was a real bonus. We'd happily come back if we're in the area again. The Swan & Salmon restaurant next door was great too, with nice food and lovely staff.

Newark's amenities are mostly just a short stroll away, and parking is included, which makes this a great place to stay. The location is beautiful, and Room 2 is just as lovely inside, decorated with a stylish mix of boutique design, comfort and warmth. The bed, mattress and linen were high quality and made for a great night's sleep. Complimentary water was a nice extra alongside the tea, coffee and biscuits. Highly recommended.

Room 4 was spacious and homely, with a well-decorated bedroom, a separate double shower and toilet en suite, and another sitting room. There was also a small fridge and plenty of tea and coffee. Our windows looked out over the canal. Step outside to the castle, then it's a short walk to several pubs, restaurants and the town centre. We stayed two nights and found it ideal for a romantic getaway. Faultless, and we'd definitely book again if we're back in the area.

It's easy to find, right beside the canal and next to the castle. Our snug, cosy room was on the small side, but they still fitted a tiny table and two chairs by the window, which was a nice touch. The bathroom had lovely waterfall taps but a very small sink. I found it hard to get a mirror with decent lighting, something I often notice in B&Bs and hotels. A lovely woman who'd come to prepare the room for the next guests let us in after breakfast when we were struggling to remember the keypad code. The gin bar downstairs was closed during our out-of-season visit. I'm not sure I'd want to stay above it when open, as it could be quite noisy, though it would be handy if you're out late.

Room 3 was a roomy twin with a large en-suite shower, and the location made dinner easy, just next door. The owner was welcoming and accommodating. I booked on the day after my plans changed and needed somewhere in Newark, and I’m glad I found this place. Getting in was straightforward with a door code and the key waiting in the room. I’d happily stay again, hopefully with more notice next time.
