Newport Student Village Campus Accommodation

Needed somewhere at short notice for one night, and this did the job. It was clean, warm and comfortable, with no fuss. Good value for a simple overnight stay.

The rooms were basic, but very clean, and the staff were a big help. We stayed Friday night for a gig in Cardiff, and getting to the station was easy. I hadn’t noticed when booking that parking wasn’t on site, so we ended up using the shopping centre car park. Hand soap and glasses in the room would have been welcome. I’d expected less from university dorm accommodation, so I was pleasantly surprised.

I’ve spent a year living at Newport Students’ Village, and the management and reception team have been outstanding. The location is another real plus: shopping centres, the station and the city centre are all a short walk away. Even with everything close by, the place feels tucked away and peaceful, a nice mix of convenience and comfort.

The location was the one real bright spot, with both bus and train stations within walking distance. The room itself was average, neither terrible nor anything special. Staff came across as rude and unfriendly, and their strict check-in and check-out times left no room for flexibility or understanding. That lack of hospitality made for a disappointing stay, and I wouldn’t recommend the place.
