OYO La Tavola Calda Hotel

The room was a mess when I finally got in. Pillows, sheets and duvets were all over the place, as if they’d forgotten my booking. The man pointed to the only bed that was made and I sat there while he finished “cleaning.” The sheets were stained, the table and bathroom floor were dirty, the mirror was dirty, and there was lots of dirt and debris in the shower tray. I just wanted a decent sleep, but the walls were very thin and the hotel was right next to a loud main road. Around midnight, music started blasting just outside my bedroom door. At about one, it sounded like five people were having a conference meeting in the laundry room right outside my door. I nearly didn’t get into my room at all. I had poor signal and struggled to reach the owner, though that didn’t help. The experience started when the owner’s “colleague” came down to meet me. He didn’t speak English and was on the phone to the manager, I assume as a translator. They argued and shouted to each other in a language I couldn’t understand for about ten minutes before I was finally shown my room. A very unpleasant stay. Do not book.

Stayed a couple of nights. Basic, but for the price it’s perfect, and I’d come back for what you get.

Had a good night’s sleep, and it was quiet at the weekend. I’d stay again, especially for a short visit. For the price, it’s perfectly acceptable. Check-in was by calling the number provided, then entering with a code. I was given a key that opened both my room and the front door. I expect contractors use the place during the week.

The staff were all friendly and quick to help, and the bar was cozy without feeling cramped. There was entertainment in the bar and restaurant area that evening, with a Lady Gaga tribute act and plenty of 80's/90's music. A welcome change from the usual rubbish in bars and nightclubs these days. Drinks were reasonably priced and refreshing. I can’t speak to the restaurant food, and although breakfast was included, I didn’t get to try it because I already had other arrangements. The smell of bacon and sausages in the corridor was inviting, though. This was my first hotel stay, and I enjoyed it. When I arrived, I was told my booked single room wasn’t available, so they gave me a double at no extra charge. It was warm, clean and inviting, and I slept without any trouble. My stay at Las Tavola is one I’ll definitely remember, and I’m sure I’ll be back in the near future. Many thanks to the staff at La Tavola. Hope to see you all again soon!
