The gluten free tea was a real treat, especially the scones, which were the best gf ones I've ever had. They were light, tasty and served gently warm, with jam and clotted cream. The sandwiches and cakes were spot on, and nothing felt skimped on. There was a big pot of quality tea and a great range of treats. The staff were polite, friendly and professional. I used a birthday voucher for afternoon tea at Normanton Park Hotel and was glad to try somewhere different, with a lovely view over Rutland Water. It was cold and damp outside, but warm and cosy inside. I'd like to come again when the weather's warmer. Highly recommend.

We brought our collie, and she was welcome in the bar. They even set aside a section of the breakfast room so we could have her with us. The whole team were helpful and attentive, and the hotel is a gem. It's right by Rutland water, just a short walk from the lakeside. We'll definitely be back.

The food was fresh and there was plenty for the price, and most of all my mum really enjoyed it. Service was impressive, quick and attentive to the fact that I don't eat certain foods. We had a lovely view over Rutland water from our seats in this quiet location. I booked afternoon tea for my mum's birthday using a Moonpig voucher.

The warm homemade scones, served with firm, good quality clotted cream and jam, were lovely, and the little cakes were a delight. Everything was fresh and delicious, from the excellent bread to the salmon, ham, tuna and beef. The staff took care with the preparation and service. This was the best afternoon tea I've had, even better than the Savoy for me.

We felt it was good value for what we paid, and the staff and reception were excellent whenever we dealt with them. Still, there are things the hotel could improve. It's in a fantastic spot beside Rutland Water, ideal as a base for walking round the lake. If arriving after dark, slow down when your Sat Nav says you're close, as the road entrance is hard to spot. The drive down is lovely and there's plenty of free parking, but remember to enter your vehicle details at reception. We stayed in the Exton room in a separate annexe, at the top of a straight, steep staircase. The landing and stair light stayed on all night and shone into the room. Motion sensors might save money and help guests. The room was smaller than I expected, though it had a small balcony with a limited water view, a little table and two chairs. The wardrobe was unusual, and it took what felt like a science degree to get the water to the right temperature. There was also a toto electric bidet and a Jacuzzi bath, though we didn't try the bath. The conservatory restaurant lacked atmosphere, but dinner service and food were exceptional. Breakfast was okay, though the selection was limited and it wasn't quite to my taste. I can't comment on the facilities as we didn't use them. This is just my personal experience, with some real positives and some weaker points.
