Falls of Lora Hotel

Getting around was easy: the hotel is right by the train station, and we used both the bus and a taxi to reach Oban, so we didn't need a car. We'd just spent a few days here with our kids, aged 9 and 4, and all of us had a lovely time. The traditional hotel is beautiful, the staff were so kind and we felt at home. The kids especially loved breakfast, particularly having hot chocolate. We'd definitely recommend it for a few relaxing days.

The walks around Connell bridge are lovely, and I'd stay here again. The hotel and room were nice, and the place was generally clean and tidy. The walking routes around the hotel could use better lighting, though. I needed a torch going to and from my work van. I didn't try the food, but I was assured it was good.

The staff we met were really exceptional. Special thanks to the two men serving breakfast on 19/10/25, who went out of their way to cater for a dietary requirement. It's a comfortable hotel in a handy location, with a good choice of food in the bistro both in the evening and at breakfast.

The evening meals in the restaurant were nice, but that was about the only bright spot in a very disappointing four-night stay. I've stayed in hotels around the world, and this is among the worst. The poor attitude seemed to run through every level. The woman at reception was particularly offhand when we arrived. Our room showed a real lack of care. The layout felt unimaginative, the paintwork was marked, and the bathroom was disgusting: black mould around the bath, grey towels that must once have been white, and a shower that felt like it belonged in a jungle. Breakfast was below what other hotels at similar prices offer. The bar ran out of some drinks while the manager was on holiday, and apparently nothing could be replaced until he came back. There were too many other problems to list. I won't stay here again.
