The town was just 20 steps away, with everything you could want and very pleasant, sociable locals. I stayed two nights in room 3, travelling solo, though it would have been excellent for two people as well. It was clean, tidy, comfortable and well appointed, with all the essentials plus thoughtful touches like a small table, two chairs, crockery and cutlery for takeaways, and even washing up liquid. There was plenty of tea and other drinks, replenished quickly when I asked, and the shower was very decent and practical. Excellent value for money, and it beats Travelodges any day.

The barn is nicely decorated, but the stay was unbearable. It’s beside a very rowdy pub, with customers completely intoxicated, foul language and no regard for people in the barn. If you want a peaceful break, especially with young children, I’d avoid these barns. The area felt so bad that I wouldn’t let my wife walk alone to the nearby shop. I’ve travelled around this country for 30 years, from cities to rural places, and this was one of my worst experiences. I had to put earplugs in just to rest, which isn’t my idea of a break. Parking is difficult and shared with the pub; the signs say you’re on your own if your car gets bumped. As soon as daylight came, we left.

We had a lovely stay while in town for a wedding at the weekend. We asked for an iron, and it was brought to us promptly the next morning. All our requests were handled quickly.

It was exceptionally quiet, with beautiful countryside around, and the bathroom was great. The room was on the small side but adequate, beautifully decorated and spotless. We could park right by the door, and there was a friendly pub close by. A great stop on the way somewhere else, especially for one or two nights.

Just what we wanted, no fuss, and the towels were changed during our stay, which was lovely. The bathroom smelled a little damp, but otherwise I couldn’t have been happier. The room was small and oddly taller than it was wide, though that made it feel quite open. Perfect for a few days while you’re out and about.
