The building has a lovely character, and the decor fits it well. Breakfast had plenty of choice, both cooked and continental, and ours was included. We also appreciated the little extras in the room, like biscuits and chocolates, plus the Nespresso machine and kettle. There was lots of storage, the bed was really comfortable, and our room was ready even though we arrived early. The front desk staff were very welcoming. A lovely stay at the Malmaison.

The evening meal was superb, and breakfast was lovely too. We were made to feel looked after from the start: the car was parked for us, we got into our room early, and the staff took care of everything we needed. We upgraded to cell 119 😊 for our stay to see the Radiohead exhibition, a Christmas gift from my wife, and were so glad we did. It was warm, cosy and clean, with everything we needed. Amazing hotel. We’ll come back in summer to see more of beautiful Oxford in warmer weather.

The meal at the Brasserie was amazing, with brilliant food, drinks and service, though the bar and restaurant were freezing. We’d booked there to meet friends, since Oxford was halfway for us, and decided to stay rather than drive home. Our standard double in the House of Correction cost £239, plus £34 for parking. The parking was good value, but the room definitely wasn’t: it was tiny, had a terrible view over the bins, basic facilities, and a bathroom needing repair and maintenance. The noise made the night even worse. Around 12:30 or 12:45, staff emptied bottles after the bar and party, which was noisy for a while, though we’d just got into bed and didn’t mind too much. At 03:36, four people were shouting and messing about by the bins, moving them and making a racket. We eventually got back to sleep, then woke again at 07:30 when the bins were emptied. We’d hoped for a leisurely breakfast and a bit of shopping after a lovely evening with friends. Instead, we got dressed at 07:35, checked out and went home to sleep. If they give you room 512 in the House of Corrections, refuse it and ask for a quieter, better room. I took photos from the bedroom window, time-stamped as proof.

Callum at reception made a real difference to our visit. With many restaurants closed, he helped us get a reservation, explained where we could go nearby, and gave us clear directions and timings. He was friendly, professional and genuinely helpful, with great local knowledge. We also really liked the hotel’s character and charm, and our room was clean and nicely presented. The atmosphere, comfort and location all made our Oxford stay more enjoyable. Excellent hotel and customer service. Thank you, Callum.

This is our favourite of all the Malmaisons we’ve stayed in. Each one has its own character, but this one is amazing. It’s our seventh stay here, and while it isn’t cheap, staying here feels like an experience. The location is great, the staff are brilliant, and Micheal was a standout. He greeted us at the door and sorted out our car, a real asset to the Malmaison brand. Looking forward to coming back x
