Scot was really nice when I arrived and showed me around. The room had what I needed for my few days there, including a comfy bed, plenty of clean towels and tea and coffee. It was very good value for money. I did find dirty footprints on the bathroom floor, which I cleaned, and the full-length mirror and bedside wall lights needed a good clean. Parking at the hotel is limited, but there’s metered street parking. Breakfast wasn’t available at the time, though plenty of nearby cafes and restaurants serve it.

There’s a friendly, welcoming atmosphere here, and I’d highly recommend it. We got a warm welcome and were able to check in early. The beach and promenade are only five minutes away, and having car parking was useful. Our room was clean, nicely decorated and homely, though we didn’t spend much time in it. There’s also a lovely balcony and conservatory with bookcases for relaxing, plus excellent WiFi. We’d chosen it after reading reassuring reviews, as we had plenty of hotels and B&Bs to choose from while visiting friends last weekend.

The hosts were lovely, and when we mentioned the heating trouble from our first night to Ian the next morning, he fixed it straight away. Our room was small but cosy, beautifully decorated and nicely equipped. The bathroom was tiny too. Leslie’s homemade jam was delicious with the homemade pancakes, and she kindly sent us off with a jar of jam and some extra pancakes. We had a lovely stay, thank you!

We had a fantastic time, and the location is fantastic too. I stayed at the ashleigh for a hen do with 14 others, and Scott and Barbara were incredibly accommodating. They only took over in January and have had their work cut out getting the house up to scratch. It still needs work, but it felt like a home away from home.

We keep returning to the Ashleigh because we enjoy our stays so much. Lesley & Ian are brilliant hosts and do everything they can for guests. I don’t eat meat or dairy, and they get plant-based milk and spread for me. Breakfast can be traditional or vegetarian, with lots to choose from, including cereals, fruit, pancakes and porridge. The rooms are clean, tidy and well presented, with tea and coffee facilities.
